(WHTM)-- Black History Month starts later this week.

At York's Appell Center for the Performing Arts, there'll be a series of four free films throughout the month. They're not just any films. Take for example one movie called "Selma."

The reason it is running?

"The direct connections here to York, Pennsylvania, we have a woman named Lois Lambert Reeves, who is a William Penn Senior High School graduate in the class of 1935, who as a teenager was fighting for the right to vote right here in York, Pennsylvania," co-founder of Friends of Lebanon Cemetery Samantha Dorm said.

All four films are free, but they do ask you to register to make sure there are enough seats.

The Lebanon County branch of the NAACP is also holding events every weekend next month. They will hold an African Drumming Workshop, a Tour of Cornwall Iron Furnace, and more.

More information about the events in Lebanon can be found online at the Lebanon County branch of the NAACP's website.
